Led by the troubled musical genius Anton Newcombe, The Brian Jonestown Massacre have a history that most bands cannot create in their entire existence. Despite the drug mishaps and frequent departure of band members, The Brian Jonestown Massacre have placed themselves staunchly into the public consciousness, thanks– in part, to the 2004 Sundance documentary DiG!. While the public breakdowns and fights can’t be ignored (in most cases, they’re celebrated), the band’s undeniable talent for genre-spanning music is what they’ll ultimately be remembered for.
