Dallas native Jana Hunter has been making solo albums since 2005, releasing projects off Devendra Banhart’s label Gnomonsong. Since then, Hunter has taken on Lower Dens, fronting and releasing Twin-Hand Movement in 2010. Lower Dens isn’t solely Hunter’s, the band has came together citing influences everywhere from Kraftwerk to Iggy Pop’s The Idiot for their latest release, Nootropics. Lower Dens’ music is raw with Hunter’s raspy and alto vocals to support, it’s an exploration of techniques and sounds for the band; and translated live, will take you into a ethereal state where feedback is considered blissful.
Lower Dens is returning to Dallas on Tuesday, October 16th to Dada Dallas. Thanks to our friend over at Parade of Flesh, we’ve got a few tickets for you to win.
